About LoneWolf

Bill (LoneWolf) Nickerson

I suppose you’re wondering who I am and what right I have to tell you anything about weight loss. Well, let’s start with the fact that I am not a doctor, a nutritionist, therapist or any other health care professional.

I’m just a guy who’s had an issue with weight for a long time. And I like to share the things that I learn and encourage others along the way.

At the time of this post I am 51 years old. I have sleep apnea and hypertension. I was diagnosed as a probable type 2 diabetic in the past year. And I’m 65 lbs over the weight that I want to be. But 5 months ago I was 100 lbs over my target weight. And I’d been at that weight for close to a decade.

So, something is starting to work for me. And I know a lot of the things that are holding me back as well — habits that are hard to break.

I have tried many times in the past to lose the weight and nothing seemed to work well. I might lose 10 lbs but then gain it all back and then some. But this time it seems like things are different.

I’m not doing anything really drastic. Just focusing on changing my lifestyle to one that is healthier a few things at a time. I want to reduce my blood pressure so that I no longer need meds. I also want to avoid diabetes. And maybe I’ll be able to start sleeping without CPAP as well.

It has been great to see my clothes getting baggier. I’ve progressively tightened my belt by 3 noches (that’s about 2 inches). I can actually fit it on the last noche, but not comfortably. I bought a couple new shirts the other day… XL rather than XXL. And they’re a bit loose on me!

I’ve enjoyed the extra energy (and the stamina when I’m playing ball hockey with the guys). I’m not starving (although I could still cut back a bit) and I’m not running myself ragged at the gym everyday. Just tweaks to eat better, exercise more, sleep deeper and enjoy life.

My blood pressure hasn’t gone down yet. The doctor tells me it should as I continue to lose weight.

Work of Art 75I hope that you can benefit from what I’m able to share. And I hope to learn what is working for you too. Please share with me what you’re doing to increase your health. Or share your struggles and questions. Leave a comment on one of the posts here or email me. Let me know how you’re doing.

To your health!
